Where are you currently studying, or have you just completed?
I undertook the 8-week Routeway to Construction course with Train 4 All at the Alphington Skills Academy and have now started an apprenticeship with CJL, a sub-contractor on the development.
Why did you want to do this work experience placement?
I have always had an interest in the construction trade.
Give a brief outline of where you spent your time on your experience:
I spent my work experience onsite, working in the development and also at the training academy, undertaking a mix of practice and theory work.
Give a brief outline of what your duties were:
My duties were to load out as well as to lay brick and block.
What aspect of the work experience did you find the most interesting?
I enjoyed all of it. I enjoyed learning about the trade and seeing how things are done on a live site.
What do you think you gained from the experience?
Through the work experience I gained knowledge on the basics of bricklaying. I’m looking forward to improving on these skills!
What are your career aspirations?
Now I have completed the course and gained an apprenticeship, I aim to become a fully qualified bricklayer.
