Dan Parsons decided to become an apprentice Quantity Surveyor after gaining A-Levels in Maths, Business Studies and PE.
“I decided to join Coreus to gain an insight into the industry and develop workplace experience alongside my qualification.”
“I chose to do an apprenticeship to gain hands-on experience in the industry and put the skills that I learn in my course into practice in the workplace to further progress my knowledge.”
So far, he has been conducting take-offs, compiling cost plans, assisting with valuations, supporting in client faced meetings and regular site visits. This helps him to develop skills of the pre-construction industry as well as the post contract role of a Quantity Surveyor.
“I am really enjoying my apprenticeship so far, having worked on exciting projects such as the Sandy Park Hotel. It can sometimes be challenging however the Coreus employees are always happy to help and explain thing if I am ever struggling with a task.”
Dan is soon to start his degree at the University College of Estate Management. The Coreus flexible working scheme means that Dan can continue learning within the workplace alongside gaining his degree.
“I would highly recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who is considering it. Even in my short time at Coreus I have already learnt so much about the industry that I would not have gained in full time education. I strongly believe doing my apprenticeship will put me in far greater employability position.”
