Naomi is the Programme Manager for the Exeter & East Devon Enterprise Zone in East Devon. She is involved in the delivery of 80 hectares of new employment space and support the delivery of new jobs on these sites. The sites include Exeter Science Park and Sky Park.
Whilst the job is predominately desk-based, it requires a good understanding of the construction process, from planning to procurement to the final construction process. It’s rewarding to be involved with the process from conceptual drawing to seeing businesses moving into a new office building.
Naomi says:
“I really enjoy the variety with my job, no day is ever the same. From working with site owners and managers, discussing the benefits of the Enterprise Zone with businesses, to seeing progress of the sites”.
“I started my career as a Planning Officer, which provided a strong grounding in the development process. I quickly progressed from small applications to new commercial buildings and housing estates. For the last decade have focused on planning for economic development, which has been really interesting and rewarding”.
“If anyone is interested in this role then an accredited degree in Town & County Planning, along with a project management qualification, will provide you with the right skills”.
