Building Greater Exeter supports the construction sector and built environment in Exeter, Teignbridge, and East Devon to build their future workforce by promoting jobs, careers, and opportunities for all.

Apprenticeships in Construction and the Built Environment – Apprenticeships are a highly valued entry route into construction and are open to anyone aged 16 and over. They offer a chance to work on-the-job with experienced staff, and combine practical and academic learning. As a construction apprentice, you’ll be employed full time. You’ll avoid student debt and earn a wage whilst gaining industry-specific qualifications. There are 100’s of diverse, rewarding construction apprenticeships to choose from. You could be behind a drawing board, developing project management skills, training as a crafts person and more.

Careers in Construction – St Sidwell’s Point Leisure Centre, Exeter – ‘St Sidwell’s Point’ is Exeter’s new state-of-the-art leisure centre and will be the most energy efficient in the UK. Opening in the towards the end of 2021 it includes three pools, a gym and two fitness studios, health suite and spa facility, children’s soft play area and a café. Over 600 people have helped to design, construct and deliver this amazing building, which has created many jobs and training opportunities. The ten min film takes you through the construction journey, featuring some of the people who have made it happen, discussing their job roles. View the individual films to gain a deeper understanding of each person’s job role, their route into construction and what they enjoy about their job the most.

Celebrating Women in Construction and STEMM careers – Inspirational women from the Greater Exeter area in local construction and STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths & Medicine) careers, discuss their roles and what they enjoy about them the most. The first ten minute video ‘Celebrating Women in STEMM’ includes all five individual videos, plus information on Ada Lovelace, the new building named after her at Exeter Science Park and where to find out more if you’re interested in pursuing a career in STEMM and construction.

These videos will hopefully inspire you to consider a career in construction, with local projects from the area and the wonderful people who create and build them.
